Bloomsburg Field Hockey Defeats Catawba College

BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University field hockey team defeated Catawba College Saturday afternoon, 7-1. The win extends the Huskies winning streak to 19 games for the season.

The Huskies Samantha Kropa (Tunkhannock/Lackawanna Trail) gave the Huskies the lead five minutes into the first half and Bloomsburg would never look back. The Huskies added four more goals by Vanessa Witman (Oley/Oley Valley), Liz Macready (Denver/Cocalico), and two by Amy Gilbert (Duncannon/Susquenita) in the first half to take a 5-0 lead.

Jamie Vanartsdalen (Huntington Valley/Lower Moreland) opened up the scoring in the second half and Gilbert added one more goal on a penalty stroke to complete her hat trick. The Huskies played excellent defense as they only allowed three shots on goal.

Bloomsburg remains perfect for the season at 19-0 overall, and 15-0 in PSAC play. The Huskies travel to Shippensburg on October 28th.
